| A total of 231 serum samples were collected from sheep (n=9), goats (n=99) and cattle (n=123) in northeastern KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. Trypanosome infection was detected using Trypanosoma brucei brucei crude antigen (TbbCA) and T. congolense crude antigen (TcoCA) ELISA assays. Recombinant antigen (T. evansi GM6 which consisted of 4 repeat domains, TeGM6-4r) ELISA and immunochromatographic test (ICT) were also used. Crude antigen ELISA, TeGM6-4r-ELISA and ICT detected 27.3%, 29% and 19.9% of trypanosome seropositive samples, respectively. | マツ科樹木の樹液精油の施用が、夏ホウレンソウの収量や食味の改善に有効であるかを検証した。試験は2013 年に帯広畜産大学実験圃場内のビニルハウスにおいて行った。ハウス内の土壌を3 分画し、それぞれに樹液精油を10a あたり0kg(0kg 区)、1.5kg(1.5kg 区)、3.0kg(3.0kg 区) 施用した。ホウレンソウ品種「ジョーカーセブン」を育苗し、8月2 日に畝間25cm、株間10cm で1 点2 株になるようそれぞれの区に移植した。移植後の各区の苗をさらに3 分画し、それぞれに400ppm の樹液精油を毎週葉面散布する( 多散布)、隔週散布する( 少散布)、散布しない( 無散布) という葉面散布処理を施した。移植31 日後にホウレンソウを収穫し、1 点あたりの収量を計測した。分散分析の結果、収量に対する土壌施用、葉面散布施用、およびそれらの相互作用の全ての効果が認められた。土壌施用の効果については、1.5kg/10a 量以上の樹液精油を施用することによって、無施用の場合よりも収量が高くなることが示された。葉面散布施用の効果については、400ppm 濃度の樹液精油を7 日おきに葉面散布することで、無散布の場合よりも収量が高くなることが示された。土壌施用と葉面散布施用の組み合わせで最も収量が高かったのは、1.5kg/10a －多散布の組み合わせで、生重量は42.2g と樹液精油を全く施用しなかった0kg 区－無散布の28.3g に比べ約5... |

| In this study, we examined the existence and structure of areolae and the steroidogenesis of areolar trophoblast cells in the Antarctic minke whale placenta morphologically and immunohistochemically. Placentas were collected from the 15th, 16th and 18th Japanese Whale Research Program under Special Permit in the Antarctic (JARPA) and 1st JARPA II organized by the Institute of Cetacean Research in Tokyo, Japan. | The effect of artesunate, a water-soluble artemisinin derivative, against Babesia species, such as Babesia bovis, Babesia gibsoni, and Babesia microti was studied. Cultures of B. bovis and B. gibsoni were treated with 0.26 μM, 2.6 μM, 26 μM, and 260 μM artesunate, and the growth-inhibitory effect was shown in over 2.6 μM artesunate in day 4 and day 3 post-subculture for B. bovis and B. gibsoni, respectively, in dose-dependent manner. In vivo experiment for B. microti, strong inhibition effects were observed in mouse groups treated with over 1.0 mg/kg body weight of artesunate on day 9 and 10 post-infection. | Due to the recent outbreak of avian influenza, transportation of frozen canine semen with egg yolk has been sharply restricted. Thus, there is urgent need to develop a novel egg yolk-free extender for freezing canine spermatozoa. In the present study, the effect of using skim milk/glucose (SG)-based extender without egg yolk on the motility and fertilizing capacity of canine spermatozoa frozen-thawed in the presence of glycerol was examined. | 多くの経済時系列データは，トレンド，季節変動，循環変動などの複数の変動成分 を含むと考えられる．本稿では，循環変動がAR モデルで表現される場合の変動成分 (AR 成分) に着目する．モデル構築においてそうした経済時系列の構造が適切に反映さ れていなければ，分析の結果，誤った結論を導く危険性がある．本稿の目的は，AR 成 分を導入した季節調整モデルのパラメータを推定するための新たなアプローチを開発し， 従来のアプローチとの比較で我々の新規提案法の優位性を示すことである．新規提案の 逐次推定法と従来の同時最適化による同時推定法のアルゴリズムのパフォーマンスをシ ミュレーションによって検討した結果，逐次推定法のアルゴリズムの方がきわめて短い 計算時間で済み，かつ安定的な推定結果を導くことが確認された． In general, economic time series data consist of trend, seasonal variation, cyclical variation, and others. | Two dogs that exhibited sudden astasia, anorexia and fever higher than 40°C were suspected of having Lyme disease in July 2011. Clinical symptoms gradually improved with antibiotic treatment in both cases. Polymerase chain reaction and sequence analysis revealed Borrelia garinii DNA fragments in the peripheral blood in the acute disease phase. Serological tests, including enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and Western blot analysis, showed an increased IgG antibody titer against Borrelia pathogens in one of the dogs. These findings suggested that diagnosis of the two dogs was Lyme disease related to B. garinii infection. |

Recently, azole-resistant Aspergillus fumigatus containing a tandem repeat in the promoter region of cyp51A combined with amino acid substitution(s) appears in the environment in Eurasia, especially in several European countries.
